Our Vision
We are undertaking an innovative project to continue moving our community in a positive direction. Our vision is for a community arts center to bring life to a downtown currently struggling to find its identity, boost the local economy and, most importantly, provide a source of creative fulfillment for our children, our seniors and ourselves.
IMAGINE strolling down a revitalized Main Street in Kamsack. You walk past a number of your neighbors carrying shopping bags and you see vibrant businesses offering a myriad of services: banks, pharmacies, a sporting goods store, a bakery, sidewalk cafes, boutiques.
You stop at an open door with music drifting from inside and you walk in. You enter the building and the lobby is filled with paintings and pottery by local and touring artists. A group of schoolchildren is on a field trip and one of the artists is leading a lively discussion with the children about artistic process.
You walk down a hallway lined with a collection of landscape photographs and you peer into a side room in which your grandchild is having her weekly guitar lesson. In another room a local woodworking artisan is sharing his techniques with aspiring artists. You leave through the back of the building and emerge in a lush garden filled with sculpture by local artisans. The garden is just large enough to host small receptions and intimate outdoor concerts.

You don't have to just imagine it...
The Arts Council is embarking on a journey to create such a community centre in Kamsack. We envision a self-sustaining neighborhood facility that will bring life to downtown, strengthen local small businesses, and serve as an impetus for economic growth in our community.
Adults and seniors are also in need of the social interaction and artistic fulfillment that a community centre and art gallery could provide. Artists living and working in Kamsack would finally have a space to display and sell their work; aspiring artists would be able to hone their craft or learn a new one; and supporters of the arts would be proud to have a dedicated space in Kamsack to showcase the genuine artistic talent we have in our community.

It doesn't even have to be big...
As long as we have floor space for workshops and wall space for art display, that's all we really need to start.
If you feel you can help us make our vision a reality, please get in touch with the arts council. We truly need the help & support of the community.
